The College sees the 500th medical examiner officer trained.
We are delighted to announce that we trained our 500th medical examiner officer (MEO) in December 2022 – Nicola Hague from Derriford Hospital, Plymouth. Nicola was the 500th MEO to undertake the College's MEO training and said this about the role of MEO:
“Completing my Medical Examiner Officer training has given me confidence in my job role and a better understanding of the death certification process. This has enabled me to support families through the start of their bereavement journey.
I can honestly say I love my job, as each day I feel I have been able to help someone through one of the most difficult experiences we go through as humans.”
MEOs are a crucial part of the medical examiner team and ensure that the bereaved are given a voice in the process of death certification and the opportunity to raise concerns and questions about care or events.
Congratulations to Nicola for being our 500th trained MEO.
