New fellows welcomed to the College at the New Fellows Ceremony
Hosted twice a year, the ceremony celebrates RCPath new fellows joining the College. It provides an opportunity for new members to meet the College President and Vice Presidents, connect with other new fellows and celebrate the fantastic achievement of passing their final FRCPath examinations.
February’s event took place over 2 sessions at the College’s office in London. College President Dr Bernie Croal welcomed invitees and their guests, and thanked them for becoming part of the community at the Royal College of Pathologists. The College Vice Presidents were also present, with Dr Noha El Sakka, Vice President for Communications, giving a speech to attendees. The ceremonies were followed by a drink’s reception.
As part of the New Fellows Ceremony, the College presented awards to numerous prize winners from 2022 to 2023.

New fellows in their own words
The College’s Member Engagement and Support team spoke to many of our new members at the ceremony. We wanted to find out about their background and what excites them about joining the College as a fellow.
Now that I’m a member of the College, I’m excited to continue to learn and develop new skills alongside advancements in technology and digital pathology.

Becoming a fellow makes me feel more confident in myself. It also gives the users of the service I provide more confidence in our work.

Becoming a fellow of the College is vitally important for pathology. As pathologists, we save lives every day. We diagnose every day. We make an impact every day. Your career is defined not by what you do for yourself, but what you do for others. For your colleagues, your patients, your profession. Thank you for becoming a member of the College.
So much talent, so much potential, so many opportunities. All of this is vitally dependent on their College continuing to be relevant, potent and driven by their involvement – their careers and professional wellbeing depends on it.
We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the new fellows who received their certificates at the ceremony, as well as all those who received awards. We look forward to inviting our incoming cohort of new fellows to the next New Fellows Ceremony, which will take place in September.
